A new app from Kongrgate launches…and is promptly pulled from the Apps Market.

Well, I was planning to discuss yet another new gaming service  (check yesterday’s post – here – for another), namely Kongregate’s new app that was released in the App Market yesterday, but it has evidently already been pulled – for no discernable reason as yet.  We have been told however, that Kongrgate is “working with Google to restore access in the Market.”  OK.

Kongregate has created an app that houses over 300 of their Flash games, all in one convenient place.  Yes, that’s right – Flash.  Here are a slew of games that cannot be played on an “idevice”, as it uses that technology that Mr Jobs considers ancient and crude.  Oh…and all of the games are free, by the way.  Nice touch.

As for the quality of the games themselves?   Well, they’re OK.  I had actually tried some Kongregate games on my Android through a browser, when the Froyo update came through, providing Flash, and the games could be a bit…err…clunky.  They tended to load a bit slowly, weren’t of the highest quality and there really wasn’t any game that made me say WOW.

This application was definitely a step in the right direction, however.  It provided the ability to download some of the games directly to your device (not all, but some), and a few of the games, now that there are 300, do stand out as being of a higher quality… and are actually fun.  Games such as “Monster Slayers” and “Barry Lost His Marbles” are already getting kudos for their ability to entertain..and again…for free.

As for the Kongregate Android App’s future?  Well it should be interesting.  Let’s see how this all pans out, shall we?
