Get Android 2.2 for your Motorola Droid X now!!

Motorola is expected to release the Android 2.2 upgrade for the Motorola Droid X phones during the early weeks of next month. But if you dont have enough patience to wait till then, you can download an unofficial version of the update right now. This update is going to be an over the air update. You can follow the steps given below to upgrade your Motorola Droid X to Android 2.2. Some guys have tried this and has worked out well. So your luck a drive.

Step 1: Download the update.zip and place it on the root of your SD card.

Open Root Explorer and navigate to the System folder

Navigate to the Bin folder and tap the button in the upper right corner to mount RW

Scroll down and delete the files ‘hijack’ and ‘logwrapper’.

Rename logwrapper.bin to just logwrapper.

Tap the button in the upper right to mount as RO again.

Reboot into recovery and apply the update!

Step 2: Turn-off your Droid X phone.

Step 3: Boot into recovery (Hold the Home key and Power button simultaneously)

Step 4: When a triangle with exclamation mark appears, release buttons and press the Search key.

Step 5: Using the volume up/down button, scroll down to “apply sdcard:update.zip.”

Step 6: Once highlighted, press the camera button to apply the update.zip.

Step 7: Your phone will work some magic and if finished correctly will say “Successful.”

Step 8: Scroll back up to “Reboot system.”

Wallah!! You must now see the Android OS 2.2 Froyo running on your Motorola Droid X.

In order to fix logwrapper issue when trying to install the leaked Android 2.2 update for the Droid X, follow the simple steps below.
Open Root Explorer and navigate to the System folder

Scroll down and delete the files ‘hijack’ and ‘logwrapper’ (Just long press and delete it).
Rename logwrapper.bin to just logwrapper (Just long press and Rename it)
Tap the button in the upper right to mount as RO again.
