Droid X, from Motorola, is supposed to get an update on its operating system to Google’s Android 2.2 in early September. This news was spotted on Motorola’s support forum. Reportedly, there is a lack of email notifications for people who use Microsoft Exchange 2003 on their Droid X. A user, when reported this on the company’s support forum, a Matt, who is a Motorola Forums Manager, replied that the phone is going to get an update.

The reply was that the issue will be resolved in the update, Android 2.2, that is scheduled to be out in early September. Motorola and Verizon had promised in June that the Droid would get an update to Android 2.2 in late summer. This new promise by Matt seems to be an assurance for the earlier promise.

Android 2.2 has a faster browser, better enterprise capabilities and cloud computing capabilities. So the update is expected to do good to the device and its users. Proved to be better than the 2.1 version, Android 2.2 has already been seen installed on many devices and the hunger for it is increasing amongst Android based devices. The Droid’s update to Android 2.2 has been waited for and is taking its turn at the right time. With Verizon pushing the limits for Motorola’s Droid X in terms of capabilities, the update is supposed to cause a lot of demand for the device in the market.
