No Motorola update for Droid X phones running leaked Froyo

We earlier saw Motorola warning Droid X users not to update their phones with the leaked version of the Android 2.2 update. We also saw that Verizon is already testing the Android 2.2 update for the Motorola Droid X phones. But now, Motorola has stated that it wont provide updates to Android 2.2 or Froyo for those Motorola Droid X phones which are running on leaked version of Froyo updates.

So those of you who have already downloaded and installed the leaked version of the Android 2.2 update, consider flashing your phone back to the Android 2.1 to it official if you want to get the official Motorola update for Froyo. The official words of the company are something like this:

“WARNING: Do NOT load the leaked 2.2 upgrade that has been floating around on the Internets. There is currently no upgrade path from that load to the official 2.2 load that will be released by early September. Unless you have some plan to flash your phone back to the current official load, you could be stuck on the leaked version.”

So you want to be stuck with the unofficial leaked version of the OS, forget this. But if you want to get the official update, you can flash the phone and wait Motorola to notify you of the update. We suggest the second option.
